The Story…
At 17 Ashvin accidentally stumbled upon a massive beach party in Goa. He saw thousands of people going crazy, dancing almost as if under some kind of spell that was cast by the Dj. He instantly knew in his heart that this was what he would do for the rest of his life.
It has now been 12 years since he began producing music and Djing.He started off DJing at private parties in Mumbai and then moved to Russia for six months to become the resident DJ at the most popular club at the time- Tequila Sunrise in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
After returning to India, he moved to New Delhi and started club theme parties with international trance DJs like Psycho Micro, Dark Soho and many others, while still doing private parties on the side and giving many people their first dose of psy trance.
In August 2000 he released an album, "From the Darkness into the Light", under the name "Vimana" along with French rock artist J.P. Dangmann. The album was sold on the Internet and was the first psychedelic trance album released in India.
He continued to make a name for himself as one of the best DJs in the country and started producing music for ad campaigns like Motorola and Nokia, which received wide acclaim. In film and television he has composed and produced complete background scores for BBC World and National Geographic India
Ashvin in collaboration with Arjun Vagle, Ash Roy and G-Force formed Jalebee Cartel (www.jalebee.in). The band is making waves from Blue Frog in Mumbai to Paradiso in Amsterdam and continues to deliver power-packed performances to overflowing clubs.
Apart from touring with the band, Ashvin recently played with D Nox, Astrix and Atmos in 2009. Along with Jalebee Cartel he also makes music under the name of Calm Chor, a Progressive Psy Act and
